How long did it take me to paint ‘that’?

(2-minute read)

I grew up in the Midwest in Fayette, Iowa and moved to the South in the early 1990s. My first painting earned me a blue ribbon for the “Best of Show,” and was submitted by my art teacher.

I joined the military at age seventeen to get away from home. Then a few years later, I received a degree in theology, but I eventually chose to become an artist. This didn’t happen until my late thirties though. I first started by painting murals in high-end homes before my fine art took off.

I’ve now painted and sold thousands of paintings across the world, and I love the question when asked, “how long did it take me to paint ‘that’ piece of art”. I always tell people it took 65 years because I always pour out my lifetime of experience into ever piece I create.

Magazines that have recognized my work are: Nashville Styles House and Homes, and the Atlanta 400 edition. Other places I’ve exhibited include The Parade of Homes all over Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.
